Mika Piirainen – Spring/Summer 2009

Mika Piirainen's collection got its start from Erja Hirvi's Iltapäivä pattern, in which wind and sea-spray whipped pine trees are immortalised. Trees are related to other patterns in the collection as well, the designers being inspired by everything from standing deadwood to luxuriant rain forests.

Erja Hirvi's Päiväntasaaja pattern brings to mind the mysterious shadows of a tropical forest. The print appears on impressive summer dresses and tunics.

The main pattern in the collection is Aino-Maija Metsola's exciting, extremely nuanced Kaarna print, adorning clothes in various materials as well as matching accessories.
