HO-HOI! by Maija Louekari wins in Elle Deco International Design Awards

Maija Louekari’s HO-HOI! pattern is the winner of the fabric design category in the global Elle Deco International Design Awards (EDIDA 2005).

In addition to fabrics, the competition incorporated eight other product categories and one for designer of the year. The finalists in each category had been chosen by the editors of the 20 different editions of Elle Decoration worldwide. The HO-HOI! fabric was selected for the final by the German edition of the magazine. A jury consisting of the chief editors of the 20 Elle Decoration editions decided on the final winners. Maija Louekari and the other EDIDA 2005 winners will receive their awards at a ceremony to be held at the Milan Furniture Fair in April 2006.

Maija Louekari, Bachelor of Arts, has designed prints for Marimekko since 2003, when she won a design competition jointly organised by Marimekko and the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Her designs are characterised by expressive line drawings and large planes of colour. Many of her prints offer vivid glimpses of landscapes or moments.
