A new Marimekko concept store was opened in Denmark in Aalborg at the beginning of October. Aalborg, located in northern Jutland, is Denmark’s fourth largest city with around 160,000 inhabitants. The 100 m2 store is situated in the central part of the city, where several interior decoration and clothing shops are concentrated. For Marimekko, Denmark is an important export country, in which growth has been very strong within the last couple of years.

Run by independent retailers, Marimekko concept stores are shops that sell exclusively Marimekko products and carry a comprehensive selection of merchandise from all the different Marimekko lines: clothing, interior decoration and bags. Developing and anchoring the concept store idea based on Marimekko’s lifestyle thinking represents an important part in Marimekko’s internationalisation strategy.
