In 2008, Marimekko design is showcased in several exhibitions across the world.
The colourful ‘Marimekko: Fabrics, Fashion, Architecture’ exhibition organised by the Design Museum in Helsinki is currently on view in the Franz Mayer Museum in Mexico City until 4 May 2008. This popular travelling retrospective exhibition – first opened in New York in November 2003 – has been shown in various locations across the world in Europe, North-America and Asia.
In Paris, Marimekko fabric design is presented in the ‘Cool Dozen+’ exhibition realised by the Design Forum Finland in collaboration with the Finnish Embassy in France and the French Ministry of Culture and Communication as part of the ‘100% Finlande’ cultural initiative in France. The exhibition showcases chair design and textile prints from Finland and it will run at the French Ministry of Culture and Communication until 9 May 2008.
The various exhibitions give Marimekko the possibility to introduce people to the special philosophy behind the company’s comprehensive lifestyle concept and to showcase the magnificent heritage of extraordinary, bold Marimekko products that have brought joy to people’s lives around the world since the 1950s.
