Two popular travelling exhibitions featuring Marimekko design continue to tour the world in 2009.
The colourful ‘Marimekko: Fabrics, Fashion, Architecture’ exhibition organised by the Design Museum in Helsinki will open in Borås, Sweden on 28 February 2009. This retrospective will be on view in the textile museum in Borås until the end of May, after which it will move to Ljublijana, Slovenia in midsummer. The exhibition has been travelling since 2003.
In the ”Cool Dozen+” exhibition, arranged by the Design Forum Finland, Marimekko fabrics will be presented together with Finnish chair designs in the House of Architecture in Rome from 11 February to 8 March. Another version of the exhibition will run at the Izmir University of Economics in Turkey from 26 February to 7 March. The original ”Cool Dozen” exhibition toured Canada and China in 2006 and 2007; the supplemented ”Cool Dozen+” version was first shown in France in 2008.
