Marimekko fabrics exhibited in Rome, Italy
In 2005, the Musica per Roma Foundation in Rome organised a Finnish Christmas festival which attracted an audience of 200,000 people. Inspired by this extraordinary success, the Foundation is now producing another international festival introducing visitors to Christmas traditions from around the world. The festival, comprising a wide variety of events including music, dance, circus and folklore, will be held in the Auditorium Parco della Musica from 9 December 2006 to 7 January 2007. During the festival, Marimekko’s outstanding fabrics will be exhibited in the beautiful Auditorium.
Marimekko is delighted to have been given the opportunity to display its designs at the festival. At the moment, the company is focusing on expanding in export markets, and there is a lot of potential for Marimekko in Italy as well. Involvement in such high-quality events as the Christmas festival in the Auditorium Parco della Musica helps to increase the Marimekko brand’s visibility and recognition in the market. The exhibition includes a wide selection of Marimekko classics as well as works of the younger designer generation. The designers of the fabric prints are Anna Danielsson, Erja Hirvi, Fujiwo Ishimoto, Maija Isola, Maija Louekari, Oiva Toikka and Katsuji Wakisaka.
Through its designs, Marimekko aims to give people strong emotional experiences and hopes that the Christmas festival in Rome will create a close dialogue between people and Marimekko design.
