My greatest fashion icon: Anna Karina in Godard movies.
The most important thing to remember when decorating a room: A lot of light and empty space mixed up with fun things. For example, a sleepwalker doll with wheels by Yoshimoto Nara.
My most important mentor: Armi Ratia in her Marimekko years and Marjatta Nissinen who taught me the meaning of designing.
My creative philosophy: The beauty of everyday life that at its best combines both the spirit of the times and timelessness.
Marimekko and me: My dearest Marimekko is a petrol blue Iloinen takki dress that my mom bought me from the flea market and that I wore at the art school. The pockets of the dress were perfect for pens and paint brushes.
I wish: That my designs are treasured by their users. Then I know I’ve succeeded.
My favorite scent: The sea.
My first job ever: I earned my very first own salary as a student at the Finnish National Opera Ballet School when I danced in the Päivikki of Fairyland ballet.
My favorite escape: A landscape that feeds my soul. Whether it’s the sea or a bustling street, an old theatre or a cool graffiti.
I relax: When chilling out with friends.
If I were not working as a designer, I would be... a ballet dancer. Actually, I became a designer instead of a dancer.
