I work best when: I have enough time. The design process takes time.
My greatest design influence: The 1910s-1940s are particularly interesting, with all of the changes that were going on in the world that were reflected in the arts, design, architecture, and performance arts
My best design moment: When things finally materialize at the end of a process
My most important mentor: My mother and Sue Jenkyn-Jones, who was my teacher in London
The word that best describes my design philosophy: Positivity and a certain curiosity
My first memory of Marimekko: The Maija Isola designs we had at home, such as “Charles.” As a child, I thought they were designed by my mother, who was also a textile designer.
The Marimekko product I use all the time: Tasaraita T-shirts
The thing I hope to bring to Marimekko Sparkling creativity and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, like in the old days
My first job ever: Picking strawberries
The best Sunday morning music: The radio
My favourite escape: Home, the forest
If I were not working as a designer, I would be: A historian, anthropologist, or folklorist
