Designer:

My greatest fashion icon: Karim Rashid, for both his extravagant style and bold but fun design

The most important thing to remember when decorating a room: Make sure you have some blocks or spots of contrasting colour to lead the eye into the room.

My favourite room: My living room in the afternoon, it has this great yellowish light

I work best when: I’m listening to music holding a thick unused sketchbook, letting a 0.5 black ink pen travel across the pages.

My best design moment: When I came up with the Kierto pattern

The Marimekko product I use all the time: A green Tuliainen tablecloth – it’s handy when you have kids, makes the kitchen even more happy and colourful

Fresh-picked flowers or a piece of your own artwork makes a great gift.

The shape I’m most fascinated with right now: A bulb or pear shape

One thing I will never change: My habit of planting seeds every spring

Rough rock or painted ceramic? Painted ceramic. Rock should be smooth.

Straight line or curve? Definitely a curve. I can’t stand straight lines and tend to change them all the time.

Sketch by hand or click on computer? I always sketch by hand!

If I were not working as a designer, I would be: A gardener
