We recommend to use postal option that includes tracking details.

When the customer returns a product ordered from the web shop, Marimekko shall return the respective payment, including costs of delivery with an aim to use the same method of payment used by the customer when making the original transaction. In the event of partial returns, the costs of delivery will not be returned. All products must be returned carefully packed, in good shape and preferably in their original box and/or package.

If a product ordered from the web shop has been returned to Marimekko in accordance with the above, Marimekko shall make the respective repayment through respective payment service provider as soon as Marimekko has received the product or the customer has provided Marimekko with a certification of the return (e.g. certificate of delivery).

    10. Product Defects

In the event that a product bought from the web shop is defective, as defined in applicable consumer legislation, the customer may submit a claim to Marimekko. All claims must be made as soon as possible after becoming aware of the respective defect by using the contact details stated in the web shop.

In the event a claim leads to the product(s) being returned to Marimekko, Marimekko shall be liable for any costs of delivery caused by such return(s).

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.  You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.  You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

The benefits that we provide to consumers under any express warranty are in addition to any other rights or remedies a consumer may have in respect of these goods or services under the Australian Consumer Law.

To the extent permitted by law, if we fail to comply with a statutory guarantee under sections 54 – 59 of the Australian Consumer law, Marimekko’s liability for such a failure is limited to, at Marimekko’s option:

provided that it is fair and reasonable for Marimekko to rely on this term of the general terms.

To the extent permitted by law, if Marimekko fails to comply with a statutory guarantee under sections 60 – 62 of the Australian Consumer Law, Marimekko’s liability for such a failure is limited to, at Marimekko’s option:
    (a)    supplying the services again; or
    (b)    payment of the cost of having the services supplied again,
provided that it is fair and reasonable for Marimekko to rely on this term of the general terms.

Marimekko’s liability for any loss, damage or expense that is not provided for under the above clauses  is to the maximum extent permitted by law, limited to direct losses (and not indirect or consequential losses) of up to $100.

When a product subject to a claim is returned and the claim is substantiated, Marimekko shall credit to the customer the compensation required by applicable consumer legislation. Marimekko aims to pay the compensation within thirty (30) days after receiving the product(s) subject to the claim, but the actual payment date may vary, depending on the nature of the product(s). If the product(s) returned in accordance with this clause are not defective under applicable consumer legislation, Marimekko may reject the claim, and recover the costs of delivery caused by returning the product to the customer (if any).

These general terms are not intended to limit the customer’s legal rights nor Marimekko’s legal obligations related to product defects in any way including, without limitation, repair or replacement obligations.

Marimekko does not guarantee the availability of all products in the web shop. Except as required by law, Marimekko is not liable for any spelling mistakes or incorrect pictures presented in the web shop, nor for incorrect prices or price compensations (such as price changes made by its suppliers or changes in currencies), nor for incorrect information regarding any product’s stock situation. In the event a product ordered by a customer has been given an incorrect price, Marimekko shall notify the respective customer of the same prior to an order confirmation and freeze the order until the customer has accepted or rejected the new price. • FAQ

    Is online shopping safe?

We treat your customer information as confidential and will not pass it on to third parties. We use a secure SSL connection to protect the connection between the online store and your computer. We safeguard the security of our online store by continuously developing and testing it.

    Can I cancel my order?

Once you have placed your order, it automatically proceeds to collection and delivery and can no longer be canceled. If you wish, you may return ordered items within 14 days. See details at Exhanges and Returns.

Can I combine two orders that I have placed?

We process each order individually and cannot combine them later.

Can I order online and pay by invoice?

Our online store does not have the option to pay by invoice.

Is it possible for an order to be canceled after I have received an order confirmation?

We aim to deliver all orders as confirmed but there is a very minor possibility of stocks running out if several orders are placed at the same time. This situation is highly unusual. If this happens, our customer service will contact the customer.

The product I added to my cart had expired by the time I proceeded to checkout. How can this happen?

The item is reserved for you only upon payment. Sometimes another customer may purchase the last item and proceed to checkout before you have done so.

How can I return goods I have ordered?

    See Exhanges and Returns.

Does the return policy apply to all products?

The right to return applies to items that are unused and intact, with all product labels and tags in place. The product must be in its original package. Cut-to-length fabric is a made-to-order product, so customers are not entitled to return it. There is also no return right for swimwear, jewellery, underwear and sale items.

I would like to exchange the product I bought for another one – what should I do?

If you wish to exchange the product using the online store, you will have to return the original product as instructed and place a new order online.

Can I leave a package unclaimed if I wish to refuse it?

If a package remains unclaimed for 10 business days it will be returned to Marimekko by Australia Post. Once the package has been received by Marimekko a refund less the delivery charge and a $10 return shipping fee will be processed. Please allow sufficient time for the refund to show in your account.

The product I received is faulty or I noticed a defect when I used it. What should I do?

In the event of a product defect, you can either contact a Marimekko store or send the product back to the online store. If we can verify the product defect, we will refund the price. Please read more under Complaints.

I wish to change the delivery address for the order. What should I do?

If you have already received a delivery confirmation, the delivery address cannot be changed. If you have still not received a delivery confirmation, contact Customer service.

Can I order products for a company, for example as business gifts?

You can order products for a company, for example by using the company's credit card as the means of payment. If you would prefer to place an order and receive an invoice, please contact our sales

    How long does delivery take?

Delivery takes 3 to 7 working days from the time of the order. During campaigns and sales, delivery times may be longer.

Can products be ordered as gifts?

Yes, you can select a separate shipping address.

How will the recipient be informed of the delivery?

The recipient will be informed by the shipping provider. However, it is a good idea to inform the recipient of the upcoming delivery so they know to expect it.

Do I have to register to place orders online?

No. You may shop online without registering as a customer or signing in. Please note, however, that some of our benefits are only available to registered users.

I have registered as a Marimekko Village member. How can I update my contact details?

While signed in on our website you can change your password and update your contact details.

    How do campaign codes work?

We offer code-based discounts from time to time. To activate the discount, enter the code into the designated field before finalizing the payment. You may need to be loged in to the website for the code to be applied. Discount codes are valid on full priced products and are valid for one transaction only. Discount codes can not be re-issued once used or if orders are returned.

What is the width of Marimekko fabrics?

The fabrics are 145 to 150 cm wide.

What are fabrics sold by the repeat?

Some of our fabrics are sold by the repeat rather than by the meter. This means that the unit of measurement is the length of one entire repeated pattern. Read more under Buying Marimekko fabrics. Check the product page of the individual fabric to see whether it is sold by the meter or by the repeat.

    Ordering fabrics online

You can order fabrics from our online store just like any other products. Choose the fabric you like, its colour and length in metres or number of repeats, and add it to your cart. Your cart will show you the final price and quantity of the fabric.

Check the product page of the fabric to see whether it is sold by the metre or by the repeat. Fabrics with large patterns are generally sold by the repeat, and those with small patterns are sold by the metre.

The amount of fabric you order will arrive in one continuous length.

Please note that fabrics are made-to-order products, which makes them non-returnable.

    About our fabrics

Our fabrics are 145 to 150 cm wide. The length of pattern repeat is mentioned in the specifications of the fabric. Repeats are within +/– 3% of what is specified.

The tone of our fabrics may vary between different printing batches. There may be slight differences in the colour tone of the picture on the product page and the actual fabric.

Marimekko fabrics are printed using either a flatbed or rotary printing method. Printing large-print fabrics using the flatbed method leaves a repeat line at the edge of the pattern, and the prominence of this line depends on the fabric’s colour and pattern. The repeat line is not a flaw but a feature of the printing technique that can also be used as an effect.

The majority of fabrics printed at the Marimekko printing facility in Herttoniemi have been granted the Öko-Tex Standard 100 certificate, which guarantees that the fabrics are free of toxins. Since 2008, our coated cottons have been coated with phthalate-free PVC.

How much fabric do you need?

It is a good idea to plan your sewing carefully prior to ordering a fabric to make sure that you purchase the correct amount. When calculating the amount of fabric needed, be sure to take into account the excess required for hems and aligning the print.

For aligning the pattern, use the repeat measurement (found in the specifications) as a guide. Please also take potential shrinking into account when planning your sewing (cotton, sateen, and batiste: 4%; linen: 6%).
