Katsuji Wakisaka

Japanese designer Katsuji Wakisaka created print patterns for Marimekko from 1968 to 1976 and again in 2001.

Katsuji’s designs are characterized by a free and playful approach to pattern composition and a vivid and exuberant color palette. In 1975, he designed the Bo Boo print – an instant classic upon its introduction. Especially in the United States, Bo Boo inspired a wonderfully varied and colorful assortment of products, including bed linens, towels, bags, and tableware.
