Ruusupuu

1957

Maija Isola designed the Ruusupuu (rose tree) fabric in 1957 as part of the Luonto (nature) series, in which real plants were used to create photogram-like prints. The base for Ruusupuu is a dense, detailed repetition of wild-angelica leaves, which contrast gorgeously with the free-hand flowers Maija painted on top of them.
