Even stripes for equality

Tasaraita –  a topical classic. Design by Annika Rimala.

In the 1960s, when jeans started to become increasingly popular among both women and men, Annika Rimala wanted to design a collection of cotton jersey clothes to go with jeans. For all denim lovers, regardless of age, size or gender. That's how Marimekko's first cotton jersey collection Tasaraita (even stripe) was born in 1968. Evenly striped, expressing equality.

A literal statement piece, the Tasaraita shirt conveys an important message.

This season, the iconic Tasaraita shirt comes in an energetic green and white colourway. For an of-the-moment outfit, combine Tasaraita with the flowing Suuruus skirt.

The blue and white Tasaraita shirt is adorned with the graphical Marimekko logo.

Finish up your attire with the printed cotton bag and the Marka sneakers.

PS. In 2019, we continue taking action for equality by donating £1 to Plan International for every Tasaraita shirt sold. Each purchase helps to drive children's rights and equality for girls.
