The historic Suomenlinna fortress is just fifteen minutes' ferry ride away from the Market Square. The Unesco World Heritage Site is a popular day- trip destination as it has many great picnic spots to enjoy a sunny day.


The fortress with its exciting tunnels is easy to explore but guided tours are also organised. The six Suomenlinna museums are also worth visiting.

How to get there:
The ferry to Suomenlinna runs from the Market Square all year round. The island can also be reached by a water bus during the summer season.
