Maija Louekari’s Ruutukaava (grid street system) pattern is an abstract image of a big city. Grids drawn with various thicknesses of felt pen are reminiscent of windows, behind which we might imagine people busy at work in their offices. The design can also be seen as an unfolding view glimpsed from the window of a descending airplane; the grids then become the roofs of houses, the lines streets and crosswalks.
