The printed acrylic-coated cotton fabric features the Vihkiruusu pattern and a stain repellent acrylic finish on the top of the fabric. Thanks to the protective finish, the fabric is easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth. Printed in Helsinki.
Armi Ratia, the founder of Marimekko, had publicly announced that Marimekko would never print floral patterns. Maija Isola, who did not like such restrictions, protested by designing an entire series of floral prints. Once Ratia saw the designs, she immediately decided to include eight of them in Marimekko’s collection. Vihkiruusu (wedding rose) was one of those designs, as was the iconic Unikko (poppy).
