Hand-painted Oiva Collectibles

It's the 10th anniversary of Marimekko's Oiva (superb) tableware, designed by Sami Ruotsalainen. To celebrate, we have introduced a limited edition collection of extra-large Oiva cups and bowls. Each oversized mug and bowl is painted by hand and is one-of-a-kind. There are no two alike in the world.

"At Marimekko, there is always room for joy and experimenting - and that's what these unique pieces are all about. The jubilee Oiva pieces can be seen as sculptures as well as homeware. The use of these over-sized, charismatic items is up to the imagination."

- Sami Ruotsalainen

The limited-edition collection features a total of 100 numbered items, each hand-painted at the ceramics factory by Sami Ruotsalainen or Maija Louekari, the designer behind the beloved Siirtolapuutarha (City Garden) and Räsymatto (Rag Rug) prints. Of the 100 items, only 16 will be available for purchase in the United States.

The artwork reflects Marimekko's design language, sketched florals and abstract lines. Each cup and bowl is a distinctive piece of art.

"Inspired by the lush greenery and energetic, wild growth of tropical gardens, we painted the cups and bowls with bold brushstrokes. The result is a range of slightly surrealistic one-of-a-kind pieces that come with surprises."
