The Kukko Ja Kana Pattern
Designed by Maija Isola, 1965
A contemporary, two-toned geometric Marimekko design at its purest.
Checks and stripes have always been an integral part of the world of Marimekko patterns. The Kukko Ja Kana (Rooster and Hen) pattern is one of Marimekko's most distinctive and timeless patterns, designed in 1965 by Maija Isola.
Maija Isola's career as a textile designer lasted for 38 years. She drew inspiration from traditional folk art and modern visual art alike, from nature and her countless trips around the world.
