In the 1960s, when jeans started to become increasingly popular among both women and men, Annika Rimala wanted to design a collection of cotton jersey clothes for all denim lovers, regardless of age, size or gender. In 1968, Marimekko's first cotton jersey collection, Tasaraita (even stripe), was born. Today, this evenly striped design remains Marimekko's symbol for equality.
