Nauru
1981
A square pattern consisting of stripes, Nauru (laughter) is a great example of Fujiwo Ishimoto’s work in Marimekko’s printing factory. Aligning the even, perfectly straight stripes with the flatbed method was challenging, which lead to constructing the pattern deliberately so that the stripes flash, or are aligned imperfectly. Sometimes, imperfection is perfect.
