The Ystävät (friends) pattern by Maija Louekari is based on the designer's recollection of a summer lawn covered with picnicking groups, in which each person played an individual role. The design celebrates friendship; it is a tribute to all friends. The strikingly large, bright color surfaces and the boldly drawn figures of the pattern create a three-dimensional effect, in a manner characteristic of Maija's works.
