Maridenim Ruudut Unikko

The mid-indigo Maridenim Ruudut jean mini skirt is made of non-stretch cotton denim in the Unikko pattern. The 5-pocket mini skirt has a slim, straight fit, a button and zipper closure, and beltloops. The skirt has Marimekko jean buttons and the Marimekko jean label in the back, which is made of FSC-certified jacron-material.

Maridenim products have a special finishing and patina which give each piece a unique, distinctive character. This feature is part of the charm and appeal of Maridenim products.

Marimekko Maridenim products are designed following the Jeans Redesign guidelines of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the world´s leading network on circular economy. According to the guidelines, the denim material is monomaterial cotton (80% organic cotton and 20% recycled cotton) with no elastane. Marimekko Maridenim is made with minimal use of hardware, including the use of removable buttons and no rivets. The washing, finishing and use of chemicals also follow the guidelines. To produce the colors, patterns and desired feel of the products, we use, for example, laser technology, E-Flow steam washing and ozone washing, instead of, for example, traditional stone washing.

Unikko, symbolizing creativity, was born in a time when hardly any floral designs were included in Marimekko’s collections. Maija Isola, however, was fascinated by the theme of flowers and decided to create an entire range of novel floral prints.
