The non-figurative Jokeri (joker) design dates back to 1967, a time when contemporary youth culture strongly influenced Annika Rimala’s rhythmic patterns. With a background in graphic design, Rimala—the self-proclaimed "everyday devotee”—worked as a designer at Marimekko from 1960 to 1982.
