This classic was created in 1964, after Marimekko founder Armi Ratia publicly proclaimed a ban on flowers in Marimekko prints. Artist Maija Isola defied the order and designed a whole collection of floral patterns that were so fresh and unique that Armi ended up taking eight of them. One of those she accepted was Unikko, the future icon of icons, now in delightful, infatuating new shades.
This product is certified in accordance with STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® (SE 08-1621 Swerea IVF).

Unikko was created by Maija Isola in 1964 and has since become an international icon of print design. The founder of Marimekko, Armi Ratia, believed that it was not possible to faithfully capture the true essence of real flowers in print, which is why floral prints were earlier excluded from Marimekko collections. So, Maija Isola designed Unikko to be an abstraction of a flower rather than a photorealistic rendition. Today, Unikko is a powerful emblem of joy and creativity, seamlessly integrated into Marimekko's design identity. To Maripedia
