Marimekko fits

Marimekko fits are based on ease between body and garment. The most defining areas are shoulder line and chest level. Some ease is always necessary for movement and to make garment long-lasting. In addition, it is designed that some styles are more slim or loose than others. Marimekko fit is mentioned under every product, always consider this when choosing your size.

SKINNY: Very slim fit that sits tight on body, material is stretchy.

SLIM: Slim fit on shoulder line and chest level but not necessarily fitted at waist or hip.

RELAXED: Loose fit at chest level and at body overall. Shoulder line is dropped. Compared to slim fit, relaxed fit has more designed ease between body and garment.

OVERSIZED: Extra loose fit at body overall and strongly dropped shoulder line. Compared to slim fit, oversized fit has lots of designed ease between body and garment.

MEN: Both loose and longer fit on body overall. Shoulder line is often dropped. Compared to other fits, men’s fit is longer and has similar body ease as relaxed or oversized styles.

How to measure?

A – Collar:

The collar size is measured by placing the tape measure around the neck and placing the index finger between the tape measure and the throat. This measurement dictates the shirt size.

B – Bust:

The bust size is measured from the highest point of the bust when a bra is worn.

C – Waist:

The waist size is measured around the narrowest part of the waist.

D – Hip:

The hip measurement is taken from the broadest part of the hip.

E – Inside leg:

The inside leg measurement is taken from the crotch to the floor. Please note that the inside leg measurement of trousers is often provided in the product description.

Info
The Imprint Belt Wallet bum bag is made of traceable Scandinavian leather, and it features the Unikko flower perforation in the front. The bag has a snap button closure on the front flap and a removable waxed cotton strap that can be adjusted with a knot. The bag has two slip-in pockets on the inside, one smaller and one larger.

The Imprint products are manufactured in Abruzzo, Italy, with hand-finished details. The Imprint series represents meticulous attention to every detail in its creation, from material sourcing to design and manufacturing.

The Imprint series features a leather manufacturing milestone that we are especially proud of—traceability. At Marimekko, we only accept leather from animals bred for food production, and each piece of leather used in the Imprint series can be traced back to a specific Scandinavian farm.

The beauty of Imprint items stems in part from the natural feel of the leather, which is achieved through a less-coated surface. Slight irregularities in texture and color are characteristic features of leather, making each piece distinct.

Story of the print

Unikko

Unikko was created by Maija Isola in 1964 and has since become an international icon of print design. The founder of Marimekko, Armi Ratia, believed that it was not possible to faithfully capture the true essence of real flowers in print, which is why floral prints were earlier excluded from Marimekko collections. So, Maija Isola designed Unikko to be an abstraction of a flower rather than a photorealistic rendition. Today, Unikko is a powerful emblem of joy and creativity, seamlessly integrated into Marimekko's design identity.
